WILKO PAY CLAIM UPDATE

Dear Colleagues

Further talks with Wilko took place on Thursday 11th April in Worksop.

Management gave GMB national reps a business update and during the latter stages of negotiations Wilko put forward an offer for those currently earning more than National Living Wage (NLW) and team members below the age of 25.

The National Living Wage for those 25 and over went up from £7.83 to £8.21 from 1st April 2019. Wilko increased the basic rate from £8.00 to £8.21 per hour (2.63%) for those Wilko stated were below this (level 1’s) on 1st April
2019.

Wilko tabled an offer of 2.63% for those on more than NLW, and those under 25’s on the basic rate to mirror the increase in the Wilko rate and to keep the higher rates in line with the previously agreed pay differentials.

GMB rejected this and called on Wilko to improve the offer. We believe the Wilko offer does not meet the aspirations of our members or improve the basic rate, which needs to be more than the National Living Wage, maintains the current differentials and reduces the pay gap for under 25’s.

Wilko has repeatedly said it does not want to be a minimum wage employer and GMB is pushing for the pay difference with NLW of 17 pence per hour to be maintained.

We have a further meeting with Wilko management on 30th April and we will keep GMB members informed of any
developments.

Only GMB members will get a say on their pay
If you’re not a GMB member, you can join by completing the form overleaf or online at www.gmb.org.uk.
Yours sincerely

GARY CARTER
