2020 PAY TALKS AND COVID 19 UPDATE

Dear Member

2020 Pay Ballot

Following the GMB ballot on the 2020 pay offer, the result was over 70% of members accepting the offer.

The increase along with any back pay should be in your August pay packet. Thank you to all those members for voting.

We received a number of concerns from members whose benefits could be affected by the £150 payment. Following discussions with Wilko those members in this situation were given the opportunity to request to receive the payment as a gift card instead (deadline for requesting this was 24th July 2020). The amount will be adjusted to take account of usual tax and NI deductions and will therefore be calculated in line with the team members’ payroll so the gift card will be reduced accordingly ensuring fairness and consistency.

We have taken this matter up with Government but the minister confirmed that all thank
you/bonus payments will be treated as earnings, the GMB will issue a press release to embarrass this government for what is nothing short of robbing key workers of their bonus. Whilst Wilko have protected their colleagues, there are thousands of other key workers that will suffer a detriment.

Covid-19

We continue to meet the company on a weekly basis to ensure our members are protected and to be able to react to any regional lock downs.

If any GMB member has concerns around Covid issues please contact your local GMB rep or Regional Office so that these can be raised and addressed with the company. Our priority is keeping you safe, we can only do this if you keep us informed of problems within stores.

GMB have raised the issue of members who have used holidays through the Covid crisis and may not have the ability to book leave through the current holiday year. We are still in discussions and will update you on any outcomes.
