Bulletin No 12 – May 2020
COVID 19 UPDATE AND 2020 PAY TALKS
Your GMB Senior reps continue to meet (virtually) with the employer on a weekly basis to ensure we are keeping all employees safe in the current crisis and the safety measures in
place are continually reviewed and updated.
Where issues have been raised through the GMB these have been taken up by your GMB
Reps and appropriate measures put in place. We are pleased to confirm that face masks will shortly be available for all members that wish to use them.
If any members have any issues or concerns, please raise these with your local GMB rep or
area GMB convenor so that we can ensure these are addressed and resolved.
2020 PAY TALKS
Prior to the Covid-19 outbreak the GMB Negotiating Committee issued the pay claim on behalf of members and met with the company to discuss this year’s pay award.
With the lockdown and social distancing brought in across the country, it was agreed to put pay talks on hold to ensure all efforts were targeted at protecting our members’ safety whilst at work, as it has become apparent that there is no clear end date to the current crisis.
Therefore, pay talks have now been re-scheduled and will commence on the 3rd June. The pay claim remains as before. Wilko team members deserve to be paid above the minimum wage. Level differentials should be maintained at pre-April rates and equal pay for under 25’s.
We will ensure that we keep members updated on progress and thank you for your patience.
