Wilko has released a company update on their current Personal Protective Equipment position –
What’s our position on PPE
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been in the news a lot recently, but without clear guidance from the Government, businesses are taking different approaches to it.
We want to understand PPE better so we can make the right choices for our team members and their safety.
Here’s some of the current thinking that’s out there:
The World Health Organisation, Public Health England and even our Occupational Health provider Medigold all agree on that PPE is not particularly effective at preventing the spread of coronavirus in retail. The Government has yet to introduce a requirement for retailers to provide PPE – the focus is on health care workersPPE is hard to get hold of right now and none of us want to get in the way of the NHS having the supplies they need right nowMuch of the PPE that’s currently available is poor quality and not effectiveGood hand hygiene is still believed to be the best way to prevent the spread of coronavirus
We will come back to you if there are any builds to our team member safety plan.
